The hiring of an attorney could be one of the most important decisions of your life. Many times, the selection and the results will affect you and your family forever.

Attorney H. J. "Jim" Hale has handled thousands of personal injury cases during his law career recovering millions of dollars for victims of negligence. Having worked at large law firms, Jim realized that assisting the clients' individual needs is most important. Jim wanted to help people on a one-on-one basis instead of treating them as a client file number.

After eight years, Jim opened his practice, the Hale Law Firm in Clearwater, with one part-time paralegal. The firm eventually merged and grew into six lawyers and 20 staff serving the people of Florida.

Growing up in upstate New York, Jim came from a close-knit family. Working on a family dairy farm, Jim learned the value of hard work, patience, and diligence at an early age that continues to serve him today.

After excelling in sports in high school, including being named to an Allstate all-star football team, Jim followed family history and volunteered to join the US Army. Although young men Jim's age were dying in Vietnam, Jim enlisted to serve as his father, a Pearl Harbor survivor, did many years before. Jim attended the US military police academy and graduated at the top of his class. During his tour of duty, Jim was quickly promoted to sergeant and completed his commitment, and was proudly honorably discharged.

Upon returning to his hometown, Jim enrolled in The State University of New York to study criminal justice to become a police officer. Registered as a full-time student, Jim worked the graveyard shift as a police officer and attended class during the day. Although strapped with this daunting schedule, Jim completed his bachelor's degree in three years and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University with a 3.75 GPA.

Seeking further challenges, Jim moved to the Sunshine State in 1983 and became a Pinellas County Sheriff's Department deputy. Jim served with distinction and was awarded several commendations for bravery and exemplary service. During his service at the sheriff's department, he met a beautiful young music teacher who agreed to marry him, and they have remained faithful to each other after more than 32 years. Jim and his wife Jan are the parents of two sons that both graduated from the University of Alabama.

Jim and his wife Jan looked for the next challenge Jim applied to and was accepted to the University of Mississippi school of law. Three years later, at 40 years old, Jim graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the country's oldest state university law school, founded in 1854.

During his final year in law school, Jim was selected to work as an intern prosecutor for the United States attorney's office for the Northern District of Mississippi. This unique position was entrusted to Jim based upon his education and experience as a police officer. During this period Jim was in court daily trying cases to conclusion and had a prosecution success rate of 23 convictions and one acquittal.

Upon graduation from Ole Miss, Jim returned to Clearwater, Florida, and began working for the Honorable Thomas E Penick in Florida's Sixth Judicial Circuit Court. This experience further shaped Jim's courtroom skills and confidence. After passing the bar exam, Jim went on to work for a prominent Tampa Bay area personal injury firm, where he was again thrust into hearings, trials, and experiences far beyond his peers. He has successfully tried numerous cases to conclusion and appeal.

A combination of training, education, life, and courtroom experiences make Jim uniquely qualified to represent you in this time of need. As shown, during a lifetime of responsibility, commitment, and integrity, Jim is someone you can undoubtedly trust. Having been everything from a farmhand, student, soldier, son, brother, husband, father, policeman, prosecutor, lawyer, employee, boss, Counselor, and friend. Jim has displayed an ability to communicate with persons at every level and station in life. He can and will advocate and work hard for you.
