ARIEL WILLIAMS, J.D. Law Graduate | Florida Bar Admission Pending — The Watson Firm, PLLC
Ariel Williams joined The Watson Firm in May 2026 as a law graduate awaiting admission to The Florida Bar, with admission anticipated in October 2026. Her Mississippi Bar admission is also pending, with swearing-in anticipated in October or November 2026. Until her admissions are complete, Ms. Williams's work at the firm is performed under the supervision of Managing Attorney Aaron L. Watson.
A Mississippi native and first-generation college and law school graduate, Ms. Williams earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2026. During law school she served as Chair of Membership and Professionalism on the Dean's Leadership Council and as Community Affairs Chair of the Constance C. Harvey Black Law Students Association, working to expand access and opportunity for the next generation of legal talent.
Ms. Williams was recognized for academic performance in Constitutional Law, Law and Medicine, and Healthcare Law. Her undergraduate honors thesis, Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Analyzing Inhumane Practices in Mississippi's Correctional Institutions Due to Overcrowding, Understaffing, and Diminished Funding, examined humanitarian concerns within Mississippi's prison system and is available through the University of Mississippi's eGrove repository at egrove.olemiss.edu/hon_thesis/1678.
Competitive Negotiation
Ms. Williams's record in competitive negotiation is exceptional. In 2022, she was named Overall Top Negotiator of her class at the University of Mississippi School of Law. In 2024, she earned the World Championship title at the Transatlantic International Negotiation Competition, competing against law schools from 25 countries. That same year, she was named Member of the Year of her law school's negotiation board.
Judicial Experience
During law school, Ms. Williams served as a law clerk with the Supreme Court of Mississippi, where she drafted objective memoranda and opinion drafts on complex legal questions. She also served as a law clerk with Mississippi's Sixteenth Circuit Court, contributing legal research on civil torts, statutory limitations, and contractual matters.
Pre-Law Experience
Before law school and during her studies, Ms. Williams worked as a case manager and claims advocate in personal injury pre-litigation, gaining hands-on exposure to the lifecycle of injury claims in Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
Civil Rights and Innocence Advocacy
During law school, Ms. Williams participated in the George C. Cochran Innocence Project Clinic and the Mississippi Prison Project, working on behalf of wrongfully incarcerated individuals and on constitutional issues affecting incarcerated populations.
Community
Ms. Williams is a committee member of Keep Pensacola Beautiful and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a Student Member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, pending her admission to The Florida Bar.
